Cooking! To say I don’t cook much would be an understatement. As I whirl through the kitchen, I dream about how I should hire a prep cook and a dish washer at times! So, imagine my amazement when I realized that these super powerful little oil bottles that helped clear out other cluttered cupboards in my home can make my days a little easier in the kitchen. What?!? No more creepy brownish and crushed dried basil when I didn’t have time to run to the store while making a quick and easy (wink) pizza before a practice? No more squeezing from a magic vat of lime juice (why doesn’t it expire?) when making a couple shrimp tacos before an Oil Party? Right now we can simplify our spice cabinets with Young Living Vitality oils like Clove, Lemon, Lime, Basil, Peppermint, Lavender, Orange, Thyme, Taste of Italy, Black Pepper, and those are just the ones that I have used! Sometimes all you need is a mere drop of the appropriate Vitality Oil on a toothpick dabbed in your dish to bring immense flavor. Did you know these little bottles of magic take up a quarter of the space that regular dry seasonings would in your cabinets?
Now that I’ve opened you up to a whole new world of cooking, let's get in some pertinent uses for them this time of year. Are you ready for some football?! Well, maybe fans are still a little sore after the Lions games, but the show must go on; this party IS happening. And we're gonna do it with essential oils BABY! I could just make foo foo snacks for the Super Bowl, but I think you've got to come out with the big guns! Manly snacks that taste amazing! The first recipe I made was something you may or may not have tried, a little snack called pig candy. I have tried this before, but I like it spicy, so I needed to make it that way at home!

Pig Candy
1 pound of thick cut Applewood smoked bacon (or your favorite brand)
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon of mustard powder
2 teaspoons of chili powder
1/4 teaspoon of cayenne pepper
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F, line a jelly roll pan with aluminum foil. Place an oven safe rack on top and spray liberally with non-stick spray; set aside. Place the brown sugar, chili powder and cayenne pepper, and YL Vitality Black Pepper Essential Oil in a Ziploc bag, seal and shake until well mixed. Toss the bacon in the mixture a few strips at a time and lay the coated bacon strips on the rack.
Bake at 350 degrees F for about 30 to 45 minutes, or longer, until cooked through. Let the bacon cool on the rack, or use tongs to transfer to a sheet of parchment paper in a single layer. Eat as is for a snack. Mmmmm....
Rosemary Oil Infused Pretzels

Another super amazing snack is rosemary oil infused pretzels, Now I made these as an extra snack just to have more things, maybe I’m kind of an overachiever, BUT, these were great, I might even make them again this week! And inside tip there best warm - right outta the oven!
1/4 cup Vegetable oil (or avocado oil if you have it)
1 16-oz. bag pretzels
1 tsp Dill
1/2 tsp Garlic powder
1 pack Ranch dip mix, dry
Preheat oven to 250 degrees F .
In a large mixing bowl, combine ranch dressing mix, dill weed, vegetable oil, lemon pepper, YL Vitality Rosemary Essential Oil, and garlic powder. Mix well. Add pretzels to the mixture and mix to coat the crackers. Pour the pretzels onto a cookie sheet.
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring gently halfway through the baking time.
If you do nothing else from this blog post make these and eat them right out of the oven. They do not disappoint! Now I forgot the silly ranch packet for this last time at the store and had to run back, I didn’t realized until I started making this that I grabbed the fiesta ranch. Oops! After an anger session that was totally un-necessary, I used it anyway, I mean this was the last thing I made and I had to go soon! But, best mistake ever, so go ahead and use the fiesta ranch because it's sooo good. Gotta love a happy accident!
Cinnamon Roasted Nuts
I also tried my hand at some cinnamon roasted nuts. Who doesn’t like those warm nuts at every festival you go to so I figured lets make them at home!!
2 tbsp Maple syrup
1 16 oz bag or can of peanuts
1/8 tsp Cayenne pepper
1 1/2 tsp Chili powder
1/4 tsp Kosher or sea salt
1/2 tbsp Olive oil
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or cooking spray.
Mix olive oil, maple syrup, salt, cayenne pepper, salt and chili powder and YL Vitality Cinnamon Bark Essential Oil in a bowl until combined and then toss in the nuts to coat evenly. Spread in an even layer on the baking sheet and cook for 15 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes or so to move nuts around. Remove from oven and allow to cool. Enjoy!
Now, I'm not gonna lie, we may have accidentally grabbed honey roasted peanuts, you know running errands with kids after school and before an activity, but who cares they were even better, and besides, isn’t there even a show about that called Semi-Homemade?!
Peppermint Brownies
Now were rockin' but, we need a dessert right?! Well say no more! All you have to do is bust out your favorite chocolate brownie recipe and add 6 drops of YL Vitality Peppermint Essential Oil with the liquid and mix well. Bake and , ….. you’re welcome!
Orange Beer
Wait, no drink?! Look, after all this cookin', I'm tired! And drinks are my husband’s department, but I'm not gonna leave you empty-handed. Grab a super trendy wheat or wit beer and add two drops of Young Living Vitality Orange Essential Oil! Bam! Magic in a can! Or bottle or glass if you have kegs like I do!

Well there you go! I whipped all this up in about two hours, but I'm crazy; you can just try one or two, or cook all day for the Super Bowl, which is definitely one of my favorite holidays! Smooches! Love you all! Keep oiling!

Oily Updates
We recently contacted past winners of blog giveaways to find out how they like their prizes and how they are using them. Allie Kibby received a case with roller bottles, inhalers, sprayer and a few other goodies. She says she gets lots of compliments on her case.
"I use Purification spray and Thieves all the time," she says. "My favorite oil is Acceptance." She says she puts a few drops on a diffuser necklace for days she knows will be difficult. "I also keep a mini roller of Acceptance in my case. If I'm not wearing diffuser jewelry, I can apply it to the back of my neck or my ankles with the mini roller. I like using the little rollers so I can keep more of a variety." These are some great tips for using oils on the go topically and aromatically. Thanks for the update, Allie!
