Calgon, Take Me Away to an Oily World of Blessings

Have you ever had those moments in your life that you think something’s got to give because life just can’t continue to be THIS challenging? Thinking back to early 2014, my mom, sister and I were, unfortunately, all in that place. Between job stress, marital stress, constant sick children and our own unstable health as well, life was one moment of stress after another. Ugh.
Then there was a pivotal day that, little did we know, would change our lives forever. Upon crying over my wine to a neighbor over yet another struggle we were having in our lives, she recommended we try essential oils. I really dismissed her rather quickly reminding her that I had tried them many times before and had never seen any real impact. She insisted I try Young Living brand because they were higher quality, so I reluctantly agreed (I mean, what did I have to lose?!?). So… I kid you not, what had zero impact over four weeks with another brand of oil, made a clear and visible difference in only TWENTY-FOUR HOURS! Of course I called my mom and sister right away with this CRAZY AWESOME news! They also wanted to give them a try and confirmed for themselves that they saw clear and noticeable differences in their lives with the oils as well! We were astonished. Seriously. We called each other daily with FUN news for a change with conversations that often started with, “ You are NOT going to believe this …but guess what the oils did for us today?”
If you knew something could help people, how can you NOT share it? Well, we can’t keep our mouths shut when it comes to helping others. Our surprise and excitement over this newly discovered and practically hidden gem just couldn’t be contained. So, as you can imagine, we were a bunch of Chatty Cathys at the bus-stop, gym, family functions, hair salon, etc. Pretty soon, everyone was trying oils and once they, too, saw the crazy …some even say “magical” … effects of the oils, we had dozens of people asking us how to get their own oils.
So I already had four jobs, three kids in travel sports, two houses (one rental), a husband (…and a partridge in a pair tree, oops, I digress) at this time in my life and being a distributor for Young Living was NOT something I had wanted to add to my chaos. Definitely NOT. Until that moment when your mom signs up to “do the business side” and begs you to join her. But, even then, I must have said NO a dozen times…in my head. But I acquiesced and told her I would “THINK” about it. My husband was not a fan of me taking on another job that might take time away from the family. And neither was I, frankly.
It wasn’t really until I started having friends begging me for the oils so they could help their families maintain health and wellness, that I realized that this wasn’t another job. It was actually part of my Calling & my WHY. In all my other jobs, as a mental health professional and educator, I have been Called to help others and empower others. I realized the oils are just another extension of that Calling. They help to empower people to be happy and healthy. So… I decided if I know something can help someone, I HAVE to share it with them… because, come on, to not share it was the equivalent of some sort of philanthropic neglect, right?
Life was Good. We were healthy and living clean lives. Friends, family and neighbors were empowered to do the same through the oils. And then I started receiving checks. At first, it felt weird because I wasn’t trying to “sell” anything and had never felt like chatting over coffee or wine with people about the amazingness of oils was a “job” that I should get paid for. But…I was getting paid regardless. Life felt too good to be true. Health felt like the best reward of all, but now on top of it, we get paid too!?!? At first, it was just enough to pay for the oils our family wanted that month. The next month it paid for our oils plus our month’s supply of groceries. The third month, it was enough to pay for our oils, our groceries and our car payment. Unbelievable. Now three years later, I am making more than the salary for the school I worked at for 18+ years!! Here’s the craziest part...because I really want to spend more time at home with my family, I can proudly say last month was my LAST MONTH at the school! YAY!! Thank you SOOOO MUCH, Young Living!!! Now, not only am I home more for my three kids, but we can continue to put all this unexpected income towards vacations together, the kids’ college funds & improvements on the house. HOLY.MOLY. Words cannot express how truly blessed I feel for this opportunity. The other crazy thing is that there is really nothing special about me. No seriously. I am not the lucky one in a million person that succeeds at this business like winning the lotto. I have been watching all the people on our team be just as successful in this business as I am-some even more so! So now, not only do I tell people about how the oils can change their lives, I tell them about how the oils AND the oil business can give their life a mind-blowing overhaul for the better!! <3

So, fast forward to today, and I continue to have the same “WHY” that drives me in ALL that I do… to help empower others to be happy and healthy. And, yes, I have found that the oils have been one of the most powerful means to that end for most people. Therefore, I continue to shout from the mountaintops about them to whomever will listen. I teach at home parties, health professionals’ offices, corporate events, health fairs, & farmer’s markets, etc. Because if something TRULY changed your life, wouldn’t you want to tell EVERYONE about it?
