Beating Holiday Stress & Making Spirits BRIGHT

It's that time of year.

You WANT to be cheerful & in the "holiday spirit" but sometimes the pressures (gift/meal/financial),

family drama triggers

& perhaps even emotional losses get in the way.

Next thing you know, you are feeling run down,

sick and lacking energy

...and the pressures mount even further.

NOT a cycle we want to relive again this year. Sigh.

While we CAN'T CHANGE some of these stressors

(i.e. gifts out of stock, family causing drama,

loss of a loved one),

we CAN CHANGE how we cope

which can reduce the impact the stressors have on us physically & emotionally,

thereby freeing us up to feel

MORE CHEERFUL HOLIDAY SPIRIT.

Here are a few tips and oily recipes to help you cope

and be able to feel more enjoyment this year...

Maintain Optimism.

Regardless of how rough things are, studies have shown that the mental perception of a stressor determines how the body responds. If you think something is "terrible" (even something benign) your body responds automatically with cortisol and other chemical reactions that send you into fight or flight mode, deplete your body of critical nutrients and lower your immune system. Even people who have been through tragic natural disasters can mentally persevere and get through the situation with optimism. So you can make it through the holiday season by ignoring the negative and staying focused on the positive...even the little things REALLY DO COUNT!

TIP: Rub Hope oil over your heart or on the back of your neck

Take Care of Yourself Physically

  • Get adequate rest each night (ideally 7-9 hours)

  • Daily exercise (even if just a few minutes!)

  • Three healthy meals (with plenty of B vitamins) like seafood, poultry & green veggies

TIP: Support your immune system with Young Living's essential oil infused wellness supplements such as: Inner Defense, Super B tablets, & Master Formula multivitamins.

Make Time to Relax Through all the hustle and bustle of the holidays, make time daily to nurture yourself with a short, simple & relaxing activity (i.e. read a favorite magazine, listen to favorite music, watch a comedy movie or show, call/laugh with a friend). It is important to replenish yourself so that you don't 'run on empty' and burn yourself out.

TIP: Diffuse Stress Away & Peace & Calming II while stealing your 'moment of zen'

Keep Expectations in Check

& Stay away from "I Should …" Thoughts

We often tell ourselves that we "should" be doing more things and handling more pressures. Be aware of any unrealistic expectations you are putting on yourself. Try to set realistic goals. Be more accepting of your own and others’ limitations. Try not to set your expectations too high. Those perfect holiday gatherings portrayed in pictures and the media generally aren't representative of most families.

TIP: Make a roller with Grounding, Orange, Joy & Highest Potential oils and rub it on back of neck, wrist or bottoms of feet to support feeling grounded, confident and balanced.
