Gift Giving from the Heart

This is the time of year where everyone is hustling and bustling to get into the holiday spirit. To me, it tends to get busy and hectic and I am always trying to catch my breath. I get caught in the Pinterest vortex trying to find cute gifts that I can make for my loved ones and friends but find myself overwhelmed with all the options. In come my Young Living essential oils. I have everything I need to make an adorable gift basket that works in all types of situation. This particular one I made as a teacher gift.

Here is what I put in it and why:

Sample bottle of Thieves Household cleaner. Remember this was for a teacher. We put in a few things for her at home and some for the classroom to help her keep things fresh. This was diluted to an all purpose strength for the surfaces in her classroom.

Thieves and Orange foaming hand soap for her classroom. I bought my bottles online, then added two tablespoons of castille soap, a squirt of vitamin e oil, 8 drops of thieves eo and 3 drops of orange eo. The rest was filled with distilled water. Make sure you leave room for the top though, sometimes I don't and it spills out and surprises me, every time. Ha!

Peppermint foot scrub. I never know how others will feel about a full body sugar scrub so I default to a peppermint foot scrub for gifts. They are amazing and everyone can use a little help with softer feet. This will be the worst recipe you have ever followed right here. Are you ready? Get your container and fill it almost to the top with your sugar. Granulated is great, raw is a little more coarse. Then take your carrier oil, my favorite is avocado oil for feet. Pour some in and stir. Keep repeating this step until it is a consistency that you like. This is preference, it can't be wrong. Once the texture is good add your peppermint drops. Start with three and go from there base on how it smells too you. Why use more when less works?

Lavender bath salts ornament. These are so cute and easy. Add some plain epsom salts to the ornament. I suggest a funnel, not using a funnel will involve sweeping and vacuuming when you are done. Save yourself the trouble and use a funnel (or make one out of foil at the very least. Once you have the salts in, add 3-5 drops of lavender oil. Put the top on, embellish with bows or cute string. So easy.

I happened to have some samples of lemongrass and joy so I tossed those in the basket too because, why not? It helps that my daughter said that her grumpy teacher could use some joy. How do I say no to that?

Everything was put in this cute basket that I picked up at Meijer and then we simply used clear cellophane to wrap the entire things and added a bow. You can make it as elaborate or as simple as you want.

What are your go to gifts for friends and family during the holiday season?
