The Walking Dead (and oils)

I spent the last week or so re-watching a little of The Walking Dead to get ready for the season premier. As I was watching, I kept wondering why they haven't run into someone with some essential oil knowledge yet. They are always rummaging around for medicine and antibiotics; but probably overlooking the powers of essential oils. I know I have some in my emergency kit just in case a zombie apocalypse ever really does happen. And just to be clear, I call any possible evacuation situation a zombie apocalypse because I am just cool like that.

While I was watching the season where they are living in the prison, and everyone is getting that nasty flu like bug that is threatening to take them down, I started thinking it was that time of year here, too. I needed to get the immune boosting oils rocking to keep our cold and flu season in our house a little more quiet. (Thanks Rick for the inspiration.)

There are a few things that I like to do for my family, the easiest of which is diffusing. A couple times a week, I will diffuse a little Thieves Essential Oil to help out the whole house - I clean with the Thieves household cleaner that we talked about the Bucket Boy blog post too for good measure.

Next I make sure that my family gets a daily shot of Ningxia red that is deliciously full of antioxidents. Young Living states...

"This sweet and tangy drink’s formula includes wolfberry, which is touted for its health benefits. Also featuring plum, aronia, cherry, blueberry, and pomegranate juices and extracts, Young Living’s NingXia Red is packed with superfoods to support overall wellness. In addition to these antioxidant ingredients, NingXia Red’s formula includes pure vanilla extract and Lemon, Orange, Yuzu, and Tangerine essential oils for a great-tasting, healthy treat.*Young Living NingXia Red benefits include support for energy levels, normal cellular function, and whole-body and normal eye health. A daily shot of 2–4 ounces helps support overall wellness with powerful antioxidants." Sounds awesome right? I have even make popsicles for the kids with this when it it a little nicer outside, and they don't last long.

My absolute favorite thing to do though, and it is so simple, is to make a Wellness Roller Ball Bottle to really let my body get immune support while I sleep. Actually, everyone gets a roll on the bottom of their feet right before bed. Here is what you need:

1 10ml roller ball bottle

carrier oil (my go to is grapeseed oil)

5 drops of Young Living Thieves Essential Oil

5 drops of Young Living Oregano Essential Oil (bonus that this is free for new members that buy a premium starter kit this month)

5 drops Young Living Tea Tree Essential Oil

5 Drops Young Living Frankincense Essential Oil

Add all the drops to the empty roller bottle first, then top off with a carrier oil of your choice. Place the roller ball on top of the bottle, add the cap, and you are ready to go. Next time you feel like everyone around you is 'the walking dead' and you want to help your own immune system kick into over drive, mix one of these up and apply, apply apply.

Remember you can click on the ordering tab above to walk you through ordering your very own Premium Starter Kit if you don't have one already!
